Abstract
In this work a laboratory test has been described about the application of algae, sunflower seed flour and graphite derivative altogether in an organic solar cell. The specie of algae used in this test is Chlamydomonas Reingardtii while reduced graphene oxide which is the graphite derivative, has been used. There is a well-proved reality that green algae has the ability to wipe out 70% more carbon dioxide than tree can, if same volume of tree and green algae is taken under consideration. Sunflower seed flour has also been used in this work because of the feature of sunflower to have natural inclination towards sunlight especially. There is one component, called tocopherols which is responsible for trapping of light in green plant seed and this is of four types. Sunflower seeds compose those type tocopherols more which is more responsible for trapping of sun rays. Reduced Graphene Oxide is obtained by processing graphite rod by employing Modified Hummers Method. Till date silicon, metal complexes based different set of materials have been tested successfully to fabricate a solar cell and making layers with these silicon and metal complexes involves complex processes. The purpose of using all these processes is to duplicate the natural process of photon trapping at bigger scale to convert light energy into electricity. So the prominent motive of this work is to make layers of solar cell with simples organic or eco-friendly resources commonly available and can obtained easily without any such process. A test was carried out first in this for checking that whether the algae has the potential to give some value of open circuit voltage and was done remarkably well. Then in a beaker or pot made of glass firstly, reduced graphene oxide, secondly, algae and lastly, sunflower seed flour were added. These three materials are added in different quantities to get remarkably higher value of open circuit voltage and short circuit current. The medium of electrolyte used is water and if good electrolyte was used in this work the result could be better than what was achieved.
