Abstract

Electric Vehicles(EVs) play an important role in energy storage and reliability of Vehicle-to-Grid(V2G) network in smart grids. Bidirectional communication between EVs and grid helps in monitoring the impact of EVs on electric grid. In this paper, the impact of mobile EVs on V2G communication is studied using a vehicular simulator, Simulation of Urban Mobility(SUMO) and network simulator, ns2. The mobility pattern of a particular area in Guwahati City, India is captured using SUMO. It is then imported into ns2 using tcl files. Network performance parameters such as throughput, average delay, and packet delivery ratio(PDR) are computed by studying the impact of mobile EVs on different entities of V2G network such as Distribution substation(DS) aggregators, DS controllers, subfeeder aggregators, charging station(CS) controllers and CS aggregators. The average delay computed is within the delay limits of V2G network applications.
