Abstract

A new three-dimensional (3D) code is developed for spectral/time/spatial optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) system namely 3D dynamic cyclic shift/multi-diagonal (3D-DCS/MD). Its construction is based on the dynamic cyclic shift code for spectral and temporal encoding and multi-diagonal code for spatial one. The data of users are retrieved correctly using the MAI cancelation property. Compared with the OCDMA systems using 3D perfect/multi-diagonal, and 3D perfect difference, the 3D-DCS/MD system has a low phase-induced intensity noise. Hence, this system overcomes these codes in terms of data rate, required source power and spectral width. Also, it can accommodate more than 200 users at 622 Mbps.
