Abstract

In this paper, a structure of tunable optic hard limiter (TOHL) is proposed for the synchronous optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA) system. In the proposed OCDMA system, the multiple-access interference is estimated and cancelled by the TOHL. The OCDMA system using the modified prime code as the spreading code with the proposed TOHL is introduced. The avalanche photodiode (APD) noise and thermal noise are taken into account in the performance analysis. The numerical results show that using TOHL in the receiver can effectively reduce the bit error rate of the OCDMA system.
