Abstract

A Dual T-Type 13-Level Inverter topology is presented in this paper, which is composed of two 3-level T-type converters connected together by means of two power switches. Compared to traditional multilevel topologies as Neutral Point Clamped, Flying Capacitor and Cascade H-Bridge, the proposed one features less power devices for a given amount of output voltage levels. Moreover, it is a self-balanced inverter, because no additional circuits are required to balance the voltage across the DC bus capacitors, leading to a reduction of costs and power losses. The proposed topology is also superior to more conventional counterparts in terms of efficiency and total harmonic distortion. Simulations confirm the effectiveness and the advantageous features of the proposed topology.
