Abstract

Today, the world faces the problem of limited availability of fossil fuel reserves at a time when energy demand is exploding. In addition, the negative effects of fossil fuels are environmental pollution. So we must be forced to seek and develop alternative energy sources to solve the issue of fossil fuels and environmental impacts. One of the renewable energy sources could be explored and promised is oxy hydrogen gas. Oxy Hydrogen gas is mixture hydrogen gas (H 2 ) and oxygen gas (O 2 ) which is obtained from the electrolysis process using electric current in electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution is mixed between aquadest and catalyst. The place that is used to do electrolysis process is called electrolyzer. In this electrolyzer takes places two electrodes (anode and cathode) placed in the electrolyte solution and direct electric current flowed through the system. Magnesium hydroxyde as catalyst was dissolved in the aquadest to increase the production rate of electrolysis process. The concentration was varied 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 %(w/v). Using oxy hydrogen gas can increasing performance of four stroke engine 120 cc. Based on the result of experimental study can conclude were using oxy hydrogen gas can increasing performance of four stroke engine 120 cc. Based on the experimental results that using oxy hydrogen gas as supplementary fuel can increasing torque as big as 23, 53%; mean effective pressure as big as 61,64%; thermal efficiency as big as and shaft effcetive power as big as 19%. Using oxy hydrogen gas with Magnesium Hydroxyde as Catalyst can reduce exhaust gases emmisions. This is good potential and contribution to overcome dependence on fossil fuels and can reduce air pollution.
