Abstract

Solar still is a basic equipment which was used as desalination plant with the help of solar energy. Solar energy is a plentiful and secure energy and other is illustrious as one of the powerful substitute energy option. This source of energy presents only day time energy reserve. So, sensible heat energy storage material is necessary to keep the heat energy at a time of night to make up for the shortage of energy. In this paper, study analysis performed with storage materials to investigate the performance analysis of solar still. Two single slope solar stills were fabricated one without storage material and another with storage materials. Quartzite rock used a as energy storage material for improving the solar still performance. Sensible heat materials improved the production compared to active solar still 0.05lit/day/m2. All tests were taken in Coimbatore with geographical coordinate of 11° 33′SIndia.
