Abstract
In this paper, we use radio link implementation as a low cost approach to analyze a deployed WiMAX network in order to improve capacity and throughput of network operators. The main objective is to improve the capacity and extend the coverage area of the WiMAX network for the Internet Service Provider (ISP) Yota de Nicaragua. For this purpose, we performed radio link simulations and then we implement it at three representative sites of the WiMAX network, then, we perform measurements campaign and monitoring of the radio links. The performance of the radio link is analyzed by comparing the predictions with the results from the measurements and monitoring at the sites of the WiMAX network. Our results show that a design with the low cost radio link implementation and monitoring, using Multi antenna techniques and higher order modulation and coding schemes can help to improve 50% of capacity ensuring the best performance and coverage of the deployed WiMAX network.
