Abstract
AbstractProton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell metamorphoses chemical energy directly into electrical energy. Nowadays, because of the high efficiency and less production of pollution, PEMFCs are gaining popularity. However, as there is a restricted flow rate of fuel, a speedy variation of the load disturbance and vigorous non-linearity; thus PEMFCs require suitable control of output voltage. In this paper, disturbance in the input is considered and thus the design and analysis of PI and Fractional Order Proportional Integral (FOPI) controller for the performance enhancement of the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell is proposed. FOPI controller is used to improving the dynamic response and performance of the system. MATLAB/Simulink environment is used for the performance analysis and comparison of PI controller and FOPI controller. The simulation result shows that the proposed Fractional Order PI offers better performance in terms of settling time, overshoot, and steady-state error and rise time for the system.KeywordsFractional order PI controllerPI controllerPEM fuel cell
