Abstract

We have presented an exact analysis of file organizations that use multi-bucket leaves in order to decrease the index size so that it can be fit into main memory. We have observed that when the number of primary buckets per leaf increases, the average disk space utilization decreases. The average disk space utilization can be improved by performing partial expansions of leaves before splitting.
