Abstract
Optimization methods of distinct algorithms are useful methods of minimizing or maximizing objective function in electrical engineering issues. Optimization methods such as Cuckoo Algorithm, Firefly Algorithm, Simulated Annealing Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm generally used when the issue is extremely nonlinear and high-dimensional. The proposed work is implemented for optimum solution of different issues of overcurrent relays (OCRs) in microgrids. In this paper, for every relay in the circuit, two cases are taken, with single variable (time dial settings (TDS)), with two variables (time dial settings (TDS) and pick up current setting (I P )). To avoid excessive interruptions, the objective function minimizes the total operating time of all primary relays. The proposed approach is tested on a typical radial distribution system. The experimental results show that the GA performs better than the other conventional algorithms with certain parameter settings.
