Abstract
This paper overviews the working of in-loop deblocking filter applied in the imminent Versatile Video Coding (VVC) standard to minimize the blocking artifacts that appears at the coded block boundaries and reduces them by applying suitable filter. Compared to the former video coding standards namely HEVC and AVC, the deblocking filter provides several enhancements like lower computational complexity, significant reduction of blocking artifacts and increased parallel processing capability.
