Abstract
The spectral efficiency of traditional frequency hopping (FH) system is low due to inappropriate use of the available bandwidth. In Message-Driven Frequency Hopping (MDFH) system, in order to improve the spectrum efficiency, a part of information bits are directly mapped into jumping carrier to transmit. However, MDFH system adopts direct mapping (DM) method without error correction, the performance of MDFH system is limited in Rayleigh Fading Channel. This paper proposes a Code-Aided Mapping scheme (CAM) based on convolutional coding which can improve anti-fading ability. The bit error rate (BER) performance of CAM-MDFH is derived when these signals are transmitted over a frequency nonselective Rayleigh slow fading channel. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show CAM-MDFH system offers up to about 13dB of gain when the BER is 1×10-3.
