Abstract

The allocation of scarce resources to support real-time multimedia services with different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements is a fundamental problem in wireless cellular networks. In this paper, we propose a new Call Admission Control (CAC) and resource reservation scheme for cellular-based multimedia wireless networks. The well-known CAC guard channel policy [3] is modified to be applicable for different traffic classes with diverse QoS requirements. The proposed scheme is modeled as M/M/C/C queueing system and the performance measures, call blocking probability and call dropping probability are computed.
