Abstract
This paper presents a harmonics current-less AC-DC power conversion system with the integration of a series active compensator to a large-rated double series diode rectifier. The series active compensator and the diode rectifier are directly connected in parallel thus shares a common dc bus. Due to this compensator, the diode rectifier draws three-phase sinusoidal currents from AC mains. In addition, it performs well under varying AC mains voltages as well as varying DC link voltages. By maintaining the DC link voltage at a constant level irrespective of AC mains voltage fluctuations, derating of the load is avoided successfully.
