Abstract

The proliferation of academic work on degrowth over the last twenty years has contributed to the creation of an increasingly robust body of knowledge. Heterodox economics has long been reluctant to address the issue, and now there are countless articles and books that deal with degrowth from solid theoretical references. Surprisingly, however, Kenneth Boulding’s contribution to the spaceship Earth remains insufficiently known and little used by researchers working on degrowth. This article will briefly review the value of this major contribution and then suggest how it could shed light on certain deleterious issues of infinite growth in a finite world.
