Abstract

The way people value nature is influenced by their experiences and experiences. In this sense, this article analyzes the perception of different social groups on the tourism exploitation of the natural pools of Maragogi – Alagoas, Brazil. The methodology includes bibliographic research on social representation and environmental perception, and semi-structured interviews with representatives of the public authorities, the private sector and the local population. Despite some similar views, in most cases, the interviewees reported divergent attitudes and opinions on tourism exploitation and the possible solutions for its planning. It is essential for this process to better articulate public power, private initiative and civil society in order to minimize conflicts and enhance the benefits of the tourism sector.
