Abstract
Java and Papua are two tribes in Indonesia which have distinction of physical and social characteristics. The aim of this study is to prove the differences of palatal dimensions between Java and Papua. Samples which used are the maxillary models which consists 25 models of Java and 25 models of Papua. Being done the measurements of palatal width and length, then palatal index is counted. The result shows that there are significant differences in the palatal length and index. But there is no significant difference in the palatal width (p=0.213), although Papua’s palatal width is bigger than Java’s.
