Abstract
Walking aids are very important for people with leg / leg injury and persons with disabilities to help the road. Crutches are one of the lightweight and easy-to-use walking aids but the difficulty of storage is therefore the purpose of this research is to design and make a portable foldable elbow crutch prototype and the addition of an Ultrasonic sensor to detect obstacles in front of it. In this study researchers developed a road aid that already exists and then designed it to fold and become more practical. The material used is 6063 aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and plastic for sensor control system boxes. In the sensor control system there are several components, namely Ultrasonic sensors, Arduino nano, Buzzers, batteries, LEDs, and switches. Design in 2D and 3D form to determine the dimensions of dimensions right before making a portable elbow crutch prototype. Making portable crutch elbow is divided into 3 parts to be folded smaller in size up to 33.5cm and can be adjusted crutch height 94cm to 112cm. In making the sensor control system box using a 3D printer. After the sensor control system research, namely the detection of Ultrasonic sensors and Buzzers, 90% of the results were quite precise, the sound of the object's flicker and the detection of the distance by reading on the Arduino IDE software. The test results using software simulation soliworks, obtained von misses stress in the maximum hand grip area of 8.567x107 N/m² and a minimum of 0.000x100 N/m² with known yield strength 2.068x108 N/m², the result of displacement or maximum movement due to load on grip hands by 9.083x10-2 mm.
