Abstract
Social engagement is a necessity in encouraging positive participation to foster social relations and community welfare. However, this role has not yet been studied in more depth, especially regarding the problems of most marginalized community groups. Therefore, this qualitative research aims to analyze the impact of community-based social involvement and the contribution of role models in accordance with the concept of Sustainable Development Programs (SDGs) on minority issues in Indonesia, especially in the case of CdLS. CdLS, or Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, is a rare syndrome in children discovered in 1933 with distinctive physical characteristics and congenital abnormalities and growth and development disorders. Classified as a minority issue, the increasing number of CdLS cases is indeed worrying because there are no resources available to help the daily lives of children/sufferers of CdLS. This is exacerbated by the lack of attention from the government and other stakeholders. It is hoped that community-based social involvement can alleviate problems by using the SDG framework for good health and well-being, no hunger and no poverty, with the support of multidisciplinary stakeholder partnerships.
