Abstract
The aim of this research is to analyze the role of the family in forming children's character at Ma'arif Islamic Middle School and analyze the challenges faced in implementing these principles. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection uses observation, interviews, documentation. There were seven informants for this research. The data analysis technique uses Milles and Huberman's data analysis techniques. The research results show that the role of the family in forming children's character applies the principles of discipline, love and effective communication which play a very important role in forming children's character. Other findings show that education in the family plays a very important role in forming a child's character. However, there are challenges in consistently applying these principles in the family environment. Difficulty in applying consistent discipline, lack of understanding of the importance of effective communication, and uneven application of affection are the main obstacles. These findings provide relevant insights for improving character education in families and can be the basis for more effective intervention programs to support children's character development in the family environment.
