Abstract

The role of the oversight committee for the election tends to be insignificant in the arena of election for the local political leader' Its institutional role is limited to the extent of its legal formal status that if is substantially provided for in the context of achieving the democratic values. Description of rote of the committee can be observed in the process of determination of a candidacy package. A study of governatorial election in Bengkulu Province shows that the committee could not execute its legal power due to its lack of disposable budgets and highly dependent on local government facilities.
