Abstract

A school principal is a professional teacher who is given the task of leading a school where teaching and learning activities are held. As a good leader, he must be able to improve the academic and non-academic achievements of students. This is to develop the potential of students to improve the quality of schools. The aim of this research is to find out the role of the school principal in improving non-academic achievement at SDIT Natuna Insan Qur'ani. This research uses qualitative research methods with observation, interview and documentation data collection techniques. The research results show that there are three roles of the principal, namely the role of the principal as a manager, analyzing the background and potential of teachers to be appointed as supervisors of extracurricular activities. And the principal brings in external teachers, and always gives direction, supervising these extracurricular activities. The role that has been carried out is in the form of the role of the school principal as an educator, namely participating as an extracurricular coach. The role of the school principal is as a motivator, namely providing additional honorarium for coaches and motivating students who excel in the form of certificates and medals.
