Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the civics education teacher in building the character of students at SMP Negeri Satap Ligalejo and the challenges and obstacles created by the civics education teacher in building the character of student at SMP Negeri Satap Ligalejo. The research method is descriptive. Techniques and data collection through three steps,namely observation,interviews,and documentation. The informants used as sources were school principals,civics education teachers and students. The result of the research is that the character of students at SMP Negeri Satap Ligalejois still lacking because there are students who do not enforce rules in terms of time discipline,dress discipline,and action discipline. The teacher’s efforts to overcome this problem are by providing good exmples and motivation so that students can ease school regulations.
