Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the effect of the implementation of literacy culture on improving the character of elementary school students. The research method used in this study is quantitative research. The research design used in this study is quasi-experimental design with the design of one group Pretest-Posttest. The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling. Data analysis in this study used pair sample t-test with the help of SPSS 25.0. Based on the results of different tests using the Wilcoxon formula shows that the significance value is smaller than 0.05, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Implementation of Literacy Culture on Improving Character of Elementary School Student.

Peran Budaya Literasi

Pendidikan memegang peranan yang fundamental dalam mendukung kemajuan bangsa dalam berbagai bidang. Peningkatan kualitas sumberdaya manusia dapat dilakukan salah satunya yaitu dengan cara penerapan budaya literasi baik itu di lingkungan sekolah, keluarga, maupun masyarakat. Berdasarkan data-data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa budaya literasi di negara Indonesia perlu mendapat penanganan khusus sehingga otomatis akan memperbaiki kualitas pendidikan itu sendiri. Salah satu cara mewujudkan kemampuan literasi yang baik terutama pada siswa sekolah dasar yaitu dengan Program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS). Menurut Santrock (2007) menyatakan bahwa character education adalah pendidikan yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan langsung kepada peserta didik untuk menanamkan nilai moral dan memberi kan pelajaran kepada murid mengenai pengetahuan moral dalam upaya mencegah perilaku yang yang dilarang. Keterangan: O1 = Pretest X = Perlakuan yang diberikan O2 = Posttest Teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah simple random sampling atau penyempelan secara acak. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pair sample t-test dengan bantuan software SPSS 25.0
