Abstract

This study aims to determine the causes of school dropouts in Lamboya Dete Village, Lamboya Sub-district, West Sumba Regency. This research is a field study with a qualitative approach with the research subjects being dropouts, parents of dropouts, and Lamboya Dete village government officials. The data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that the factors causing children to drop out of school in Lamboya Dete Village, Lamboya Sub-district, West Sumba Regency are (1) the lack of interest in learning of dropouts, (2) the economic background of parents of dropouts is low, (3) the educational background of parents of dropouts is low, (4) the social environment of dropouts, and (5) the village government's efforts and efforts in socializing education to children and parents are still lacking.
