Abstract
AbstractA pentagonal patch antenna having a rounded slot has been designed. The antenna design is illustrated by taking a pentagonal patch on a FR-4 epoxy substrate. The circular slot is optimized by the optimetric tool in the High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). The resonating frequency for the proposed design is 9 GHz. The circular slot in pentagonal patch excites circular polarization which enhances the gain and reduces the complexity of the design. The return loss has been found to be −23.2909 dB with a bandwidth of 500 MHz. This design has been evaluated in terms of VSWR, return loss, radiation, gain, etc.KeywordsPentagonal patchVSWRReturn loss (S11)RadiationCircular slotHFSS
