Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the learning process improvement in speaking skills through the implementation of guessing words in high class. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models which were carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing actions and observations, and reflection. The participants in this study were students of V-B class at SDN Dayeuhluhur CBM in Sukabumi city 2019/2020 academic year as many as 30 students, consisting of 14 male students and 16 female students. Data collection techniques in this study used tests in the form of test and nontest. While the non-test technique is in the form of observation, field notes and documentation. The data analysis technique used qualitative descriptive. The results of the first cycle of teacher activity research averaged 62 high categories, and student activities amounted to 51 moderate categories. The second cycle of teacher activity was 83 very high categories and student activities were 77 high categories. In the pre cycle of speaking skills test showed completeness of 10% or 3 students, the first cycle was 57% or 17 students, and the second cycle was 83% or 25 students. The overall increase with the calculation of the gain formula obtained a score of 0.54 with the medium category. This study concluded that with the application of word guessing models can improve speaking skills and speaking skills increase through the implementation of guessing models in high class.
