Abstract

The ability to think creatively is one of the abilities that students must have in order to participate in learning with maximum results. The ability to think creatively is one of the skills that must be possessed by students in the 21st century. This study aims to improve creative thinking skills using the discovery learning model in thematic learning in primary schools. The method used in this research is the classroom action research method. This method has four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 27 people consisting of 15 male students and 12 female students. Data collection techniques used are observation and documentation. The research instrument used was the teacher activity observation sheet and the student activity observation sheet. The results of the study can increase students' creative thinking skills from pre-action to cycle 1 by 3,15%. The increase in students' creative thinking skills also occurred in cycle 1 to cycle 2 by 4,63%. Therefore, this research can be used as a reference in improving students' overall creative thinking skills by 7,78%. The discovery learning learning model needs to be continuously carried out by teachers in thematic learning because with the thematic learning model, students become more active in participating in learning. The use of discovery learning learning models can facilitate the needs of primary school students in improving their creative thinking skills.
