Abstract

Printed or online dictionaries can help expand students' understanding of vocabulary, text translation, and the context of single-word use. Arabic dictionaries on the internet can be easily found, but it is quite difficult to find a Malay-Arabic dictionary that specialize in Arabic verbs with conjugations such as VerbDict (http://www.verbdict.abqarie.com/). However, the students' experience of the use of this dictionary has not yet been identified. Therefore, this study was conducted to see the evaluation of UiTM Kelantan Branch students on the use and their perception of the usefulness of this Arabic verb dictionary. This study uses a quantitative approach and data is obtained using a five-point likert scale questionnaire. A total of 136 students of UiTM Kelantan Branch were randomly selected to answer an online questionnaire sent by email. The data was analyzed by using Statistical Package Social Science (SPSS) 23.0 software. The findings of the study prove that i) the level of verb dictionary use is high (M=4.06-4.20; SP:0.78-0.92) and ii) their perception regarding the usefulness of the dictionary is also high (M=4.35-4.45; SP:0.64-0.69). This dictionary is suggested to be widely used for the benefit of students.
