Abstract

This research was motivated by low students' mathematical ability to understand the concept of HOTS questions and the lack of interesting learning media to support learning activities. The purpose of this study is to develop HOTS based pop up book media to build the mathematical understanding of junior high school students that are valid and practical. This research is Research and Development (R&D) research. The HOTS-based pop up book media development procedure uses the ADDIE development model, because the ADDIE model has simple steps that are easy to learn and more systematic than other models. The ADDIE development model consists of 5 stages, that is Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Valid product seen from the validation results of media experts and material experts and practical products seen from the results of the teacher and student response questionnaires. The media expert validation results were declared valid with an average result of 3.81 and the results of the material expert validation were declared valid by obtaining an average result of 3.31. The results of the teacher's response questionnaire obtained a result of 90% in the very practical category, while the results of the student response questionnaire obtained results of 74.5% in the practical category. So that it can be concluded that HOTS-based pop up book media to build mathematical understanding of junior high school students is valid and practical to be applied as learning media in the mathematics learning process
