Abstract
The high number of smartphone user among student makes student feel of neck pain caused by the wrong position in using a smartphone. Neck pain can cause decrease student’s academic achievement and absence of student from attending classes on campus. The high impact caused by neck pain due to the influence of the position of using a smartphone especially in students and the absence of research that discusses the influence of the position of using a smartphone especially in students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of West Sulawesi, making researchers interested in studying more about the influence of position of use smartphone to neck pain in students. The research design used a cross sectional approach with sample of 304 students. Three questionnaires used that are the demographic data questionnaire, the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS-11) questionnaire and the smartphone use position questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi square test (p<0.05). The majority of positions of were in the good category (57.6%), experienced mild pain (4.7%) and there was an influence of use smartphone to neck pain (p<0.006). Respondents are expected to pay attention and frequently change positions when using a smartphone to avoid neck pain.
