Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of oven temperature on mechanical properties composite hybrid polyester reinforcement palm fruit fiber and glass fiber with fiber volume fraction (Vf) of 32%. The materials used in this study is polyester resin, glass fiber and shoots corypha utan fiber. Tensile test specimens were made according to ASTM D638 standard while bending test specimens according to ASTM standard D790. The test specimen is molded by hand lay-up method followed by suppression and left for 1 day. Furthermore, the composite molded is cutting abreast tensile test standard and bending tests standard, then the test specimens treated with different temperature. The test results showed that the tensile specimens heat-treatment 1000C for 1 hour temperature has a greater tensile strength than others which is equal to 123.00915MPa, while the tensile strength low of 54.65102 MPa obtained on specimens that are subjected to 2000C for 3 hours. The results also show that the bending test specimens with heat treatment 1000C for 1 hour to have the largest bending strength which is equal to 150.7179 MPa, bending strength whereas low of 85.3945 MPa obtained on specimens with heat treatment over 2000C for 3 hours. The results of the macro image shows the crack on bending test specimens, whereas the tensile test specimens seen the fiber pullout, deboning and brittle fracture
