Abstract

This research was carried out based on problems that arise in the field, where there are children who have low critical thinking skills at the elementary school level. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of learning using the Problem Based Learning model on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes on the material of economic activities. The method used in this research is experimental research with the type of pre-experimental research and using a one-group pre-test and post-test design given to the 4th grade students with a total of 30 students from Cilembu State Elementary School, Pamulihan District, Sumedang Regency. The data analysis process was assisted by using the SPSS 20 application with various kinds of tests, including normality test, homogeneity test, Related Sample Tests (Wilcoxon) and paired sample T-Test (hypothesis testing). Based on the results of the hypothesis test, it shows that Problem Based Learning is a learning model that can improve students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.
