Abstract

The lack of students’ interest toward statistics subject is became background of this research. Beside, lecturer’s knowledge in learning strategies to attract students’ interest to follow this subject is also still low. This makes learning process still in one way characteristics. The impact of this process is more than 40% failed in this subject. One solution to solve this problem is using cooperative learning model with think pair share (TPS) type. This research has purpose to know whether students’ result in statistics subject with cooperative learning model with TPS type is better than students’ who study in conventional way. Type of this research is experiment. Population of this research is all of students in STMIK Jayanusa Padang who take statistics subject in academic year 2018/2019. The sample is choosen by random sampling which is students in class C has choosen as experiment class and the students in class B as control class. Data gathered based on students’ result final test in both class. Data analysis is using Mann-Whitney U test. Based on analysis and research gathered, it can be concluded that students’ result who using cooperative learning model with TPS type is better than students’ who study in conventional way.
