Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research that aims to determine the effect of the think pair share method in the discovery learning model of the learning outcomes of students of class XI MIPA of SMA Negeri 4 Enrekang on acid-base material. The research design used was posttest only control design. The population of this research was the students of Class XI MIPA of SMA Negeri 4 Enrekang which consisted of two classes. The sampling technique used was random sampling. The sample of this study was class XI MIPA 1 as a control group and XI MIPA 2 as an experimental group. Data collection techniques were carried out by giving a final test of learning outcomes in the experimental group and the control group. Data analysis techniques were performed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of descriptive analysis showed that the average value of learning outcomes in the experimental group was 77.67 and the control group was 69.64 with completeness of learning outcomes of 70% for the experimental group and 46.43% for the control group. Hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney test, obtained Zcount = 3.27, at a significant level α = 0.05 obtained Ztable = 1.64. The think pair share method in the discovery learning model influences the learning outcomes of the students of class XI MIPA of SMA Negeri 4 Enrekang on acid-base material.
