Abstract

Leprosy is acontagious disease that still become a problem on developing countries, due to limitation on providing adequate health services. Patient with leprosy must take MDT regularly. Irregular treatment can increase the prevalence and complication. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of home visit by nurses on patient’s attitude in following MDT regularly. A quasy-experiment with pre and post-test control group used as research design. Population were Paucibacillary and Multibacillary leprosy patient at Puskesmas Alak, Kota Kupang, NTT, 16 respondents were involved. Samples devided into two groups, intervention (8 respondents) and control (8 respondents). Independent variables was home visit conducted by nurse, while dependent variable was patient’s attitute in taking MDT regularly. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Data were then analyzed using the wilcoxon signed rank test and mann-whitney test with α≤0.05. The result of wilcoxon signed rank test had showed the significant differences on patient’s attitude between pre and post test at treatment group (p=0,011). Whereas, in control group the differences were not significant (p=0,206). Mann withney result had showed that treatment and control group has a significant differences (p=0,000). It can be concluded that home visit by nurse have influence on patient’s attitute to follow the MDT program regularly. It was suggested that nurse should do home visit and give health education regularly
