Abstract

Intoduction: Health education was one of nursing interventions that aimed to change behavior in increasing health status. Jigsaw learning model is a cooperative learning method that requires audience’s participation actively in every discussion stages. This study was aimed to examine influence of health education about scabies prevention with Jigsaw learning model in changing adolescent’s knowledge, attitude and action in Amanatul Ummah Educational Institution, Mojokerto. Method: This study was a quasy-experiment using pretest-posttest control group design. The population were adolescents at Nurul Ummah Boarding School. Samples were 36 respondents taken by using simple random sampling, divided into two groups, treatment and control group. The independent variable was jigsaw learning, while dependent variable were adolescent’s knowledge, attitude and action about scabies prevention. Data were collected by using questionnaire and observation and then analyzed using level of significance <0.05 by Wilcoxon sign rank test and Mann Whitney U test. Result: Result analysis of knowledge variable by Wilcoxon test for treatment group (p=0.000), the control group (p=0.317), Mann Whitney posttest (p=0.000). Analysis of attitude variable by Wilcoxon test for treatment group (p=0.011), the control group (p=0.564), Mann Whitney posttest (p=0.049). Analysis of action variable by Wilcoxon test for treatment group (p=0.00), the control group (p=0.157), Mann Whitney posttest (p=0.00). Discussion: It can be concluded that health education with Jigsaw Learning Model about scabies can increase the level of knowledge, attitude and action of adolescents in scabies prevention. So, as health provider, nurses can use Jigsaw Learning Model to get effective influence when giving health education to adolescents.
