Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the chronic diseases that causes the highest death after heart disease and hypertension. Diabetes mellitus is caused by the hormone insulin not working properly so that there is a buildup of glucose in the blood. The purpose of this study is the effect of carbohydrate intake on people with diabetes mellitus. The research method used is the literature review method of selected journals. The results of the study showed that there was an influence and relationship between carbohydrate intake consumption on people with diabetes mellitus. The higher the carbohydrate intake, the higher the blood glucose level. Carbohydrate intake can affect blood glucose levels in people with diabetes mellitus. The factors that can control blood glucose levels so that they do not increase are by paying attention to food intake and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and by doing physical activity or exercising.
