Our education hasnot been able to shape the character of the students, because education is still focused oncognitive aspects, Islamic religious education is no exception. So the lifestyle ofmaterialism, consumerism, and hedonism and moral degadensi happening in society,especially among adolescents has not been able to overcome. Therefore, this paper aimsto describe one effort that can be done in shaping the character of students, namelythrough the study of contextual-based Islamic religious education. Islamic religiouseducation contextual-based learning is an attempt to alter the character of cognitiveknowledge into "meaning" and "value."
