Abstract
PEN films have higher flexural rigidity, lower level of oligomer extraction and higher heat resistance than PET films because of the difference of their chemical structures. The production process of PEN films is fundamentally same as that of PET films. PEN films were confirmed to satisfy all the characteristics of the substrate for ultra-high density magnetic tapes when Co-Cr thin film media are fabricated by the FTS method in which the sputtering plasma environment is almost separated from the deposition plane of PEN film substrate.
