Abstract

The use of waste as a raw material in new production processes as well as conversion of existing processes is the main topic of resource optimization. Reducing the environmental impact by utilizing waste-based raw materials is a characteristic of certain efficient technologies. Used cooking oil can be used as an alternative ingredient for making candles The method used in carrying out this activity was socialization related to household waste management and then collecting used cooking oil and the practice of making aromatherapy candles with used cooking oil as the basis. The targets chosen in carrying out Community Field Work Practices (PKL) activities in Beran Lor Hamlet were PKK and community leaders. The results of a program conducted in Dusun Beran Lor, Tridadi, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta regarding the practice of making aromatherapy candles with used cooking oil as the basis for the residents of Beran Lor Hamlet have been able to practice the process of making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. Together with Dusun women, women, and Beran Lor hamlet cadres, we conducted counseling and hands-on practice as well as distributing the products that were produced to each of the women who took part in this event. So, therefore used cooking oil or what is known as kitchen waste can be used as an aromatherapy candle as a way to reduce cooking oil waste.
