Abstract

AbstractPelvic outlet contraction is rare, but should be readily diagnosed at the routine assessment of the pelvis during the prenatal period. When in doubt, accurate measurements of the bony outlet by X‐ray pelvimetry are mandatory. A trial of labor is not applicable if the pelvic outlet is reduced, because the true state of disproportion will not be appreciated until very late in labor. A case is reported in which severe outlet contraction was not recognized in the prenatal period, and only became evident after fetal distress necessitated careful assessment in labor.
