Abstract

The teaching practice of the teaching staff is one of the success factors in producing excellent students. Inadequate teaching methods will contribute to the weakness of student achievement. Highlights of previous studies have shown that there is a weakness in the mastery of tawijh al-qiraat among students in Malaysian institutions of higher learning (IPT). The study was carried out to review the teaching method of tawjih al-qiraat among lecturers in (IPT) Malaysia. The design of this study is a survey study through a qualitative approach by interviewing four teachers who are involved in teaching the science of tawjih al-qiraat at Malaysian IPT. The interview data was transcribed and analyzed using Nvivo 12 software and organized based on the formation of categories and themes. The findings of the study explain teacher and student-centered strategies, lecture and question-and-answer methods, whiteboard sketching techniques, combination of books, writing different words and understanding the methods of book writers are practiced during the process of teaching the science of tawjih al-qiraat. Presentation activities, finding different references and problem-based learning are also done during the PdP process. about teaching methods in an effort to improve mastery of practical reading among students in higher education institutions. It is hoped that this study will be a trigger and a new contribution to studies related to the teaching of tawjih al-qiraat in Malaysia in the future.
