Abstract

AbstractThe Peierls potentials of different types of crystallographic dislocations moving on {110} glide planes are computed by means of various models and a systematic study of a 35° dislocation is carried out for different model series. It is shown that the original Peierls model can lead to qualitative errors concerning the structure of the Peierls potential and yields too small dislocation widths.
