Abstract

Increased urinary excretion of metabolites of the mast cell mediators prostaglandin D2, (2,3-dinor-11β prostaglandin F2α) (2,3-BPG), leukotriene (LT) C4 (LTE4) and histamine (N-methyl histamine (NMH)) support the diagnosis of various allergic disorders in the adult population. In the pediatric population, the reference range and clinical utility of mast cell mediators have not been well defined.
