•Type 1 diabetes (T1D) accounts for 80% of diagnosed pediatric diabetic cases in the United States. •T1D progresses through 2 distinct stages before symptom onset at Stage 3. •Autoantibody beta cell autoimmunity markers can predict T1D. •Prediction allows for innovative interventions to help delay disease progression.
