Abstract
In May of this year, while I was overseas, I read the Resolution of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party on Reforming the Educational System and the speeches made by comrades Hu Qili, Wan Li, and Deng Xiaoping at the Conference on Educational Work. I recall that at that time we all read these documents again and again with great emotion and were moved to hail every word with tremendous joy. Education forms the basic foundation for the nation and is the only path by which the development of the national economy may flourish and the quality of the nation's people may continue to be enhanced. It is, furthermore, the driving force behind the realization of the four modernizations. If only the people of our country from top to bottom may, under the leadership of the Central Committee, strive realistically and indefatigably to do a good job of promoting the cause of education and transform China through education from a superpower in terms of population to a superpower in terms of talent, then...
