Abstract

Plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) has been employed as a key technique to grow carbon nanomaterials on certain substrates. In this letter, diverse carbon nanomaterials have been grown successfully on the surface of carbon nanofibers fabricated by PECVD technology. PECVD power showed dramatic effects on the morphologies and structures of nanomaterials on the carbon nanofiber surface. With the increase of power, the nanomaterials were seemed to be gradually changed from carbon nanowires to the graphene sheets and the specific surface areas of the films were improved significantly.
