Abstract

In this article, the theoretical and applied aspects of understanding the scientific and technical text are considered. The most commonly used ways to translate terminological vocabulary on the example of instructions for the exploitation of humidifiers are highlighted. The work analyzes the characteristic features of the current genre. Instructions for for household appliances are up to the scientific and technical functional style. Scientific and technical style is realized by texts, which are recognized for proving the exact facts from some kind of special branch, as well as for fixing the process of learning information. Instructions are normative publications that define the rules for using a device, apparatus or machine. Documentation that is being prepared for publication should be of the highest possible quality. It must be absolutely competent from an engineering point of view and ideal from a literary point of view. A large amount of scientific and technical terminology was found in the texts of operating instructions. The difference between foreign and domestic scientific and technical texts is in the reproduction of terminological vocabulary. Due to disagreements in the systems of languages, the translator is forced to the use of translation transformations at different linguistic levels, including the pragmatic one. Pragmatic adaptation acts as changes that the translator makes to the text of the translation in order to achieve the expected effect on the recipient. For its adaptation and adequate reproduction in translation, explication, concretization, antonymic translation, expansion, grammatical replacement and omission were used. Some errors were found in existing translations. It is necessary to continue to work on the accumulation of experience in translation of scientific and technical literature, to be interested in modern developments in this area and to develop this direction, which will contribute to the implementation of a high-quality and adequate translation of the target language understandable to the user. Therefore, further study of the features of the reproduction of terminological vocabulary is promising.
